Osmoflo, the largest Australian desalination company, has secured an EPC contract to provide a 56,775 m3/d (12.5 MIGD*) seawater reverse osmosis plant to ACWA Power Barka, which was awarded the second phase of the Barka desalination project by the Oman Power & Water Procurement Company (OPWP).

Located 60 km northwest of Muscat, the plant will be capable of delivering 12.5 million imperial gallons of water per day. The plant is part of the second phase of expansion for ACWA Power’s operations in Barka, where it already runs a plant delivering 136,660 m3 of water per day and 427 MW of power.

In January 2015, Hepworth Oman started the provision of UPVC pipes, fittings and valves as well as CPVC Georg Fischer pipes, fittings and valves to this prestigious project.

The project is on a fast track, with the first phase scheduled for completion in August 2015.
